Gaining more self-assurance in your diving abilities can help you learn to avoid and handle challenges under the sea. It's difficult yet really rewarding.
You may increase your confidence as a diver and learn strategies to prevent and handle issues by taking the PADI Rescue Diver course. You’ll improve as a buddy during the training by honing your ability to see possible issues and by practicing diving emergency protocol. The training is enjoyable despite the seriousness of the subject; many divers tell us that the PADI Rescue Diver course is their favorite.
The PADI Rescue Diver course equips you with the skills necessary to handle both small and large diving emergencies. You gain information and practice responding by participating in rescue drills. You exercise your knowledge and abilities in rescue scenarios. Topics include
- by oneself
- Identifying and addressing other divers’ stress
- equipment and emergency preparedness
- saving terrified divers
- Recovering unconscious divers
Ask your teacher whether you can receive college credit for the Rescue Diver course.
To practice in-water resuscitation, you’ll need a pocket mask in addition to your standard dive gear. You’ll use an oxygen tank, floats, marker buoys, and maybe CPR mannequins while doing exercises. Your PADI Instructor will go through the necessary gear with you and may also recommend extras like a first aid pack that you may use for the rest of your diving career.
